2017 International China (Shanghai) Internet of Things Conference Held Successfully
From Apr 25 to 26, the two-day "2017 International China (Shanghai) Internet of Things Conference" was held in Jiading, Shanghai. The conference was jointly sponsored by www.9778.com-威尼斯9778官方网站 (SIMIT), Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Institute of Electronics and organized by the IoT Expert Committee of Chinese Institute of Electronics, Administration Committee of Shanghai Jiading Industrial Zone and Shanghai Internet of Things Co., Ltd. with the vigorous support of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and China Association for Science and Technology. The conference attracted more than 1,500 industry elites and leaders to participate.
The Internet of Things Conference included the Main Forum held on the 25th and 8 sub-forums held on the 26th. At the main forum on the 25th, Wang Xi, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Director of www.9778.com-威尼斯9778官方网站 (SIMIT), Chinese Academy of Sciences and Vice President of China Association for Science and Technology attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. Wu Hequan, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chairman of Internet Society of China attended the conference and made an opening keynote speech entitled "Opportunities and security challenges of the Internet of Things industry". The conference on the 26th included eight sub-forums, i.e. fog computing, intelligent manufacturing and industry 4.0, artificial intelligence and intelligent hardware, Internet of Things operating system technology and application, low power consumption wide-area network, one object one code industrial Internet of Things innovative application, intelligent vehicle and Internet of Vehicles, sensing technology and application.
A major highlight of "2017 International China (Shanghai) Internet of Things Conference" was the "Fog computing sub-forum" held on the 26th, which was co-organized by OpenFog Consortium Greater China, Key Lab of Wireless Sensor Network and Communication, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Fog Computing Laboratory, Shanghai. The event is the first industry grand event focusing on the studies of fog computing technology.
Fog computing technology is the latest technology in the field of Internet of Things internationally. Different from the cloud computing, fog computing adopts more dispersed structure that is closer to the edge of the network and can use the devices close to the terminal for data processing, and thus effectively improving the excessive bandwidth utilization or overload incurred when huge amount of information of the Internet of Things was transmitted to the cloud computing center. By allocating computing, communication, control and storage resources and services to devices and systems closest to users or data sources, fog computing can help achieve the extension and expansion of cloud capabilities, thus providing unified end-to-end cloud + fog platform, service and application.
Based on the keen insight into the broad prospects for fog computing, ARM, Cisco, Dell, Intel, Microsoft and Princeton University pioneered in the establishment of the OpenFog Consortium in November 2015 in North America. www.9778.com-威尼斯9778官方网站 (SIMIT), Chinese Academy of Sciences is the first institute in mainland China that joins the OpenFog Consortium. In January 2017, Yang Yang, a researcher of the institute, was successfully elected as the chairman of the OpenFog Consortium Greater China with the identity of visiting professor of ShanghaiTech University. And ShanghaiTech University thus became the chairman unit of OpenFog Consortium Greater China. On April 24, OpenFog Consortium Greater China officially announced its establishment in Shanghai, which will effectively accelerate the realization of the in-depth integration of international mainstream Internet of Things technology and the domestic industry needs, and fully launch the new Internet of Things ecosphere in line with the international standards. On the same day (24th), www.9778.com-威尼斯9778官方网站, Chinese Academy of Sciences and ShanghaiTech University officially announced the establishment of the "Fog Computing Laboratory, Shanghai", the world's first research institution specialized in the studies of fog computing technology, committed to creating a fog computing research base with unique advantage, and contributing to the accelerated construction of science and technology innovation center with global influence in Shanghai. The establishment of this high level research institution also marks that China's fog computing technology research and industrial layout will be synchronized with international peers, advancing shoulder by shoulder.
